Welcome to the Yukon Aboriginal Women’s Council Mental Health & Wellness Conference & 50th Anniversary Gala!
We are honoured to invite you to join us for a landmark event that marks an important chapter in our organization’s journey. Hosted by the Yukon Aboriginal Women’s Council (YAWC), this year’s Mental Health & Wellness Conference will take place in Whitehorse, YT, from November 6-7, 2024, at the Sternwheeler Hotel and Conference Centre.
This inaugural conference offers a unique opportunity to come together and explore the mental health challenges impacting Indigenous communities, with a particular focus on families affected by Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+), members of the 2SLGBTQIAA+ community, and frontline workers. Together, we will engage in meaningful dialogue, participate in healing activities, and exchange valuable insights to foster a collective path forward.
The conference will conclude with a special Gala on the evening of November 7th at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre from 7:00 - 10:00 pm, celebrating YAWC’s 50th Anniversary. This milestone event will honour the past five decades of dedicated service to Indigenous women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals.
We look forward to welcoming you to Whitehorse for this transformative experience, where community, learning, and healing converge. Thank you for being part of this journey and for your commitment to supporting the well-being of Indigenous communities.
